I was required to get this book for class, and given the option to either buy it or rent it for half the cost. I'm really glad that I bought it though, because it has just about everything you need to get started with digital photography. It has step by step instructions, high quality images that show you what it's talking about, and lots of useful information for any photographer-especially a new one! I'm just glad I get to keep it.
I am taking a photography class and this was the required textbook for the class. Currently, I am renting this textbook, but I am going to buy it after the class ends. It has great information for anyone who would like to learn photography.
This is a great resource and explains everything nicely. Bought it for photography classes I took in college. Kept it in my collection. Vendor provided great service.
I got the kindle version, very handy to bring along with when you are shooting and to class. The only disadvantage is when the instructor says to flip to a certain page number. It's hard to determine exactly what page it is at first. It is a good guide so far, easy to understand.
I'm renting the kindle version of this book for a class, and I've been sorely disappointed with the quality. The first thing I noticed is that the picture quality is terrible, which is laughable in a photography book, and they're blurry at all zoom percentages. This is even more frustrating when trying to read the charts, which is literally impossible because of this book's terrible image quality. I've also encountered one image (in chapter 8) which was missing. A gray box replaced the photo with a message about not including the image for copyright reasons. Since I'm paying to rent the book, that makes no sense. Overall, I've only had bad experiences with this book, and I usually love Kindle books.
Not my first choice, but the instructor loves this book. It is informative, but not my first choice. I find it is hard to stay focused and read it.

The textbook is actually very interesting and informative, but not too dull or heavy to make in un-enjoyable. I recommend it.
